Tell your Senators and Representatives to support affordable homeownership
Today, in Florida, nearly 1 million households are spending over half their income on a place to live. These families are just one missed paycheck or medical emergency away from homelessness. Often, the high cost of housing forces them to sacrifice spending on quality food, decent healthcare, reliable transportation, and other basic necessities. At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that every family deserves an opportunity to thrive in a home they can afford.
Join us in telling our Federal Senators and Representatives to support affordable homeownership by voting in favor of the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act (NHIA). NHIA is a bi-partisan bill that benefits low to moderate-income households by creating a federal income tax credit program that revitalizes distressed communities. The program will leverage private capital with federal funds to bridge the gap between renovating/building affordable homes and the price at which they can be sold.
